Business Portrait Shoot

Yesterday I met Diane who had booked me to produce some new portrats for her website, Herne Bay Hypnotherapy. The shoot was arranged in conjunction with a PR company I work with; Press Up Group.
Diane felt her existing pics did not relfect her current 'look' or convey how she wanted clients to see her on her site. She tasked me with producing some attractive, professional looking images that showed her to be relaxed, approachable and professional.

I decided to use tyhree sets ups yo photograph Diane in so that she had a variety of poses in each set up. I also felt this would make each image look different enough to work across different pages of her site and avoid the same 'studio' look repeating it self.
I set my lights up for the first shoot to get a plain, simple white backdrop:

The lights were set to blow the back wall out so it was pure white and the brolly was set to provide soft light on the subject, who stood proud of the wall. I used my Canon 580 EXII and 430 EXII which I find more than enough to control lighting in all but the most demanding shoots.
After I'd shot some standard shots I pushed my imagination a little to find ways of sitting Diane in the nicely lit room we were using to get some more atmospheric shots and for these I used window light and careful positioning og both Diane and the furniture to ensure she remained the focus of the shots and the background didn't become distracting.

I prefer to use my telephoto and a wide aperture for these shots and this ensures a soft, undistracting backdrop to a well lit subject.
Diane now has a variety of images from a fairly short and cost effective shoot which she can use to populate her business website.
