Field Note : I knew from the moment I laid eyes on it that this location had the potential to be a winner. A rugged castle perched on the brow of a finger of rock surrounded by lush green fields-what could be better? All that was left was to pre visualise what time of day would cast it in the best light and find a composition to do it justice. I chose dawn, because of the time of year, and a tight composition that excluded the sky because I wanted to emphasise the sheer strength of the soft morning lighting on the valley to the right and as it crept up the gully beneath the castle. It was a really magical moment to be there and see this perfect moment of light, timing and composition come together before my eyes and amid the silent calm of dawn. As it was my third dawn vigil in this spot it made it all the more special.
