Marlowe Sands, Wales On this evening at Marlowe Sands shafts of light were constantly flashing acrossing the sky as the clouds were driven past the setting sun by high winds. When this shaft of fanning light burst through I just took a guess at what to do exposure wise before firing the shutter.
It matters not that this was shot on good old Velvia-the strategy for getting the shot remains the same for me now I am totally digital. I arrive early at a location, explore the area and remain late and capture as many different viewpoints as I can. A balance must struck between doing each composition justice and creating volume and variety-something that only practice and good judgement can give.
