Poppy and Lavender, Provence, France Finding details in a scene such as a lavender field can be hard and it often takes more time and effort than composing the 'grand vista' shots. Here I inspected the potential poppy for any blemishes, removed stray grass and still had to shoot many versions until I caught the poppy open as it fluttered in the breeze. Bear in mind the usual rules of composition as they still apply to the smaller landscape as much as the grander ones-here I've ensured the poppy, being the focal point, is slightly off centre.
