Oare Nature Reserve, Kent, England A bitterly cold winter's day and these birds are plodding over the ice towards a distant pool of water where they can swim and feed.
I was shooting with a relatively wide aperture and in Aperture Priority mode, rather than my preferred Manual Mode, so that I had less to worry about when composing a constantly moving and unpredictable subject.
The result is rather pleasing-the 'Leader of the Pack' is blurred but distinguishable and in the distance and his followers are in focus which adds depth to an otherwise almost monochromatic shot.
