Carcassone, France Teeming with tourists by day I find the old city hard to enjoy. Nonetheless, I know a potential shot when I see one (and believe me- there are many I don't) so I set about searching with the car for a good view point to photograph the city at dusk from distance and when the lights came on. After finding access down a farm track, setting up in a field and framing my shot it's a waiting game. Being dependent on factors beyond my control is a little disconcerting and, as ever in these situations, it's 'squeeky bum time' as the darkness gathers while I hope the lights a) exist, b) work and c) are set to come on before total darkness arrives. In the end I wait ages for a fleeting opportunity to make the shot but it comes together well in the end.
