Bath, England The bright sky meant the I needed two ND grads to record the exposure range in one file. With one graduate placed on the sky and city horizon and a second over the tree line I avoided having to sacrifice the trees from my composition. Why didn't I just blend exposures? Well, the trees are very fiddly to try and bring through against the darker background and it was time I didn't fancy spending in front of the computer. The other option was to cut them out altogether but losing them from the composition would have meant a loss of depth and interest to the overall image.
