Istanbul is undeniably exotic and photographing the key buildings was high on my list. Here, the exposure is timed to coincide with ‘magic’ hour when the sky is a deep blue and the lights of the city glow warm and orange. Access is often a challenge but the hotel opposite, happily, has a bar terrace with a view. Drinking cold Turkish beer and waiting for the light over an iconic landscape; it’s hard to beat!
