My location searching around the fortified, coastal city of Dubrovnik was dictated by the footpaths that take the visitor around the city walls. Plenty of views over the terracotta roofs revealed themselves but it was this little turret and the simple use of the leading lines that really caught my attention. The line of the shadow, the edge of the wall on the left and right all serve to bring the eye up from bottom left up and through the picture to the top. The sparkling, clear sky is broken by just enough cloud to make it interesting and it conveys the fresh, clear Mediterranean light in what is a deceptively simple composition.
