Field Notes

Originally shot in the standard format, but with a 200mm lens and a 2x extender, there was much going on in the picture to distract from the focal point of this church. I am a big believer that, with composition, less is so often more and trimming out a lot of extra ‘stuff’ from the scene has left a simpler, bolder and more effective composition that brings the viewer closer to the very thing that caught my eye when I took the photo. Shooting into low, warm light is always enjoyable and creates the ‘layers’ of highlights and shadows that give the shot a sense of depth.
