Field Notes

With so much cloud I was worried this could be less than ideal if no sunlight penetrated through. Fortunately, as the morning unfolded, colours develoed in the sky and those big, hanging behemoths of cloud had some extra interest as they towered over the landscape below. It's not often that the sky is 'bigger' than the landscape; the Lake District is often depcited in terms of its scale and grandeur with the sky just a small part of the composition. dedicating almost half of the composiiton to the sky seemed fittting though in the circumstances and captured the balannce and relationship between the two elements of sky and landscape well.
