Field Notes

I had scouted this viewpoint prior to this dawn visit so everything should have been straightforward. As the sun rose into the plumes of cloud wind and rain drove into me and my gear causing problems with the lens as spots of rain blighted the images.  Coupled with the need to shoot a sequence of images left to right for this pano I had to work very fast and rely on solid camera technique to avoid leaving the lens exposed to the elements any longer than necessary. After some failed attempts, a window of a few seconds allowed me to make my sequence just before the sun's warmth faded and the scene left flat as the clouds set in. I can't emphasise enough how familiarity with my kit and speed of thought in using it was the primary reason I managed to capture this difficult scene.
