Field Notes
Taken on my first serious, solo, foray into landscape and travel photography this shot is a favourite for two reasons. First, it took a lot of effort to climb the mountain; oxygen was short and normal steps were exhausting. And secondly because despite a less than overwhelming colour palette I used a ‘sunset filter’ (remember them?) over the lens to expose the Fuji Velvia film and achieve a shot I feel was a positive step on my development as a photographer. Using the technical tools available and blending them with the creative process at the time we shoot is the secret to consistent results.
