Field Notes

The clouds had been in all day but as dusk approached the wind from the west started to shove them across the sky at quite a rate. The upshot was that my 30 second exposures also lent a lovely softness to them that works well with the other elements of the photo. The composition is designed to capture the expansive sky and water with the city lights glimmering nicely at magic hour. Combined with the graceful arc of the light trails from the water taxis plying the Thames the elements of the shot all work well together and I know it would be hard to reproduce this unique combination albeit from one of the most photographed views in London!
